We were determined to remove oil heating and replace it with a low-carbon option. We were developing existing spaces to enhance the farm experience. Helping to ensure our spaces are versatile and purposeful. It made sense to introduce new heating and lighting as we went. With the help of valued supporters, we've been able to commence a programme of work that removed four oil-burning devices and replace them with two air source heat pumps. These heat pumps are supplied with green energy developed by two banks of solar panels. Our electricity generation is enough to power our site completely with a little over that will soon be offered back to the grid.
The introduction of a Tesla Power Wall has allowed the storage of this generated electricity. This provides both a buffer, if consumption exceeds generation or it is economically financially beneficial to charge from the grid at a low tariff and then sell when the rate per unit changes during periods of the day.
The project has been made all the more easy by the two principal contractors. Martin Coyle at Manx Solar Electrical Ltd and his team have been excellent and have worked with Peter Titterton and Malcolm Blackburn at Organic Construction Services Ltd. These two companies are experts in the management of energy and the reduction of waste. We have benefited greatly from their experience and guidance.

Our project is almost complete and we have moved in and are living with the new integrated solar PV, heat pump and MVHR heating system you have designed and installed. I would like to thank you for working with us throughout the design and installation phases of the project. This has required considerable expertise and felxibility in working with the other contractors and equipment suppliers to integrate several relatively novel (for the Isle of Man at least) technologies into a practical and cost effective system.
Our objective was to invest in an integrated and environmentally aware approach to building design which made the best use of the location and would be economically effective in the medium term. I think that with your help we have been steered towards high quality products and a sensible integrated design which is not over complicated and fits in to the overall design of the building perfectly.

Manx Solar Electrical installed an air source heat pump, solar panels and Tesla Powerwall in our property. Staff are extremely knowledgable, which is difficult to achieve as technology in this sector develops so fast. They worked together with us to find the best solution for our circumstances. We spoke to other companies before which just tried to sell us something from a brochure.
Once the work was scheduled Manx Solar worked to the agreed deadlines and work was carried out to a very high standard. We worked with many craftsmen over the years but the standard of work Manx Solar provide, especially the electricians, is the best I have seen so far on the island. Staff were always approachable, we felt very good looked after.
Manx Solar also provide customer service after the installation has been done and make sure the customer understands the system installed and how best to use it. And on the odd occasion when something was not 100% right it only took a phone call and somebody would turn up and look after the problem.

Having taken Peter's advice I decided to replace my existing oil fired boiler with an air source heat pump from Dimplex. The installation took place in July 2010 and was completed on time, without mess and to budget.
Martin's electrical work and Peter's plumbing and pipework was of an exemplary standard and everything worked perfectly and without any problems. Their understanding of the technology and it's application is second to none.
The heat pump has been a revelation in terms of its efficiency compared to oil and I estimate the I am saving about £800 a year. More importantly the comfort level in the house during the winter is incredible as the heating is always on and the house is kept at a constant temperature.
I have been so impressed with the air source heat pump that I asked Manx Solar Electrical to replace a gas boiler, at a property in Winchester, with another Dimplex heat pump. In fact they are so good that I got Peter and Martin to completely re plumb and re wire the property for me and you can't get a better recommendation than that.
Do I have any regrets? Only that I wish I had given up oil and gas sooner.

Thank you for your request for a testimonial for your company, this is something I will gladly do I as I was so impressed with your service and personnel you sent to my new build. As you know I engaged another company to design our underfloor heating and DHW system which turned out to be totally unsuitable.
When I first met you on site to discuss my requirements I was impressed with your knowledge and experience, and within the first 10 minutes I knew I had picked the right people. The installation went very smoothly and it was a pleasure to have your men on site, anything I asked them to do was done.
On our first meeting I requested a Delonghi heat pump because of its low starting current (39 Amps) Now I am glad you talked me into having the Dimplex heat pump with its 0 to 10 Amps ramp up starting current. Hence the lighting does not dip when the heat pump starts.

Manx Solar Electrical completely re-wired and re-plumbed our house and then installed a ground source heating system, solar panels and a total of 4-kilowatts of photo-voltaic cell panels.
The installation work was efficient and clean with the company directors in constant attendance.
